Open Day 2025
Build Your Future at Politecnico di Milano
The Open Day at Politecnico di Milano is back with a mix of in-person and online events and activities: an opportunity to discover the Energy Engineering program, its educational content, training objectives, career opportunities, and admission procedures.
How it works
• In-person event on March 29
• Online meetings from March 24 to April 11
The in-person event will take place on March 29, 2025, at the campus in Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, 32, Milan, where you will find our booth with information points and many experiences to introduce future students to the world of Energy.
Four classroom sessions will be held (in italian) to discover the most current challenges in the energy sector:
- 9:00 AM – Rotating Detonation Engines for the Energy of the Future!
Do you know about rotating detonation engines? They promise efficiency and sustainability, with applications in aerospace propulsion and electricity generation. Designing them is an engineering challenge: in this seminar, we will explore this futuristic technology, with supersonic flows, detonations, shock waves, and complex aero-thermo-mechanical events! - 11:00 AM – Energy, Development, and Geopolitics
Energy is the engine of growth in modern societies. But how does it align with the need for sustainable development on one hand and an increasingly complex and unpredictable geopolitical context on the other? In this multidisciplinary seminar, we will explore the role of the future energy engineer. - 12:00 PM – Decarbonizing with Nuclear and Renewables
There is growing discussion about nuclear energy, including modular reactors, new generation reactors, and fusion prospects. But how can we leverage the synergy between this technology and renewable sources to achieve decarbonization goals? In this session, we will discuss this crucial challenge for the energy transition. - 2:00 PM – Energy Storage Technologies: Solar Energy Even at Night!
How can we ensure clean energy when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing? Storage technologies are crucial to overcoming the intermittency of renewable sources and promoting the energy transition. In this seminar, we will discover innovative solutions that use thermodynamic cycles to store energy and release it when needed.
We have also organized online meetings dedicated to the study programs:
Bachelor’s Degrees: webinar presenting the Energy Engineering program:
• Tuesday, April 1 at 3:30 PM
• Thursday, April 3 at 2:30 PM
Master’s Degrees: webinar presenting the Master’s Degree with a focus on the various paths:
• Thursday, March 16 at 4:30 PM
